WELSH MINERS’ STRIKE. PROTEST AGAINST COMPROMISE. INDUSTRIAL CONFERENCE RECOMMENDATIONS. 48-HOUR WEEK WITH NO OVERTIME (Australian and N.Z. Gable Assn.) LONDON, March 27. Seventy thousand Welsh miners struck as a protest against the compromise settlement. The Industrial Conference Committee reported in favour of a legal 48-hour week, the discouragement of overtime, and a lejrai time wage rate of (universal applicability.
