I was pleased to note that at Hie annual meeting of the Cambridge Amateur Swimming (Hub, a letter from the Hamilton club, suggesting tiii; formation of a'South Auckland centre was favourably received. I sincerely hope that tiir proposal will be promptly acted upon, for some time past il has boon considered in swimming circles all over the Dominion that, the importance of ||«.> South Auckland district warranted the formation of a centre, instead of 'he clubs there remaining as a portio.i of Hie rather too-distant Auckland centre, which has plenty of work to do to cater for the requirements of a big city. At the last Dominion Championship meeting, held at Wanganui Inst February, the South Auckland district was represented by two swimmers of whose alvility and showing against (he best in the country, the district has every right to bo proud— R. These boys givo an absolute proof that, the South Auckland district, has the calibre of swimmer that will justify it in mak'ng an effort to become more than a ftlace of secondary importance and I feel confident that if a centre is formed, as suggested, it will not only lie welcomed by the New Zealand Council, but by every other centre in the nonunion, and success will surely wait, pn it.—l am, etc., BAXTER O'NEILL, Hon.
