RFFERENDUM SUPPORTED. ON EFFICIENCY HOARD PLAN. SIR .JOSEPH WARD'S VIEWS. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON. Friday. In reply to a deputation ol business men yesterday Sir Joseph Ward stated that he was favourable to a vote of the people by referendum in accordance with the recommendation of the Efficiency Board, which provided for compensation to the Trade, and that, should the decision of the electors not he favourable to the Efficiency Board's recommendation, then separate issues should he provided for by Parliament this session, and submitted to the people at the general election. Also, that the soldiers away from the Dominion should in both eases be given the right and opportunity to vote. "I expressed the above as my opinion, and that Cabinet would, of course, have to consider and decide the matter in due course."
