Received October 19, 9.20 a.m. NEW YORK, October 18. The Germans have evacuated Bruges. All the lines of communication between Zeebrugge and Turcoing have been ; captured. Great fires are raging round Zeebrugge and Bruges, and the Germans are flooding the country. ALLIES TAKE ROUBAIX. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received October 19. 9.40 a.m. NEW YORK, October 18. The United Press Paris correspondent learns that the Allies have captured Roubaix. FRANCO-BELGIAN PROGRESS. PRESSING THE, RETREATING HUNS. Received October 19, 9.45 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 18, 1.20 a.m. A Belgian Communique reports that the attacks carried out by the FrancoBelgians since the 14th have completely succeeded on the whole front in Flanders, and the beaten enemy continues to retreat, closely followed by the Allied troops. On the left the Belgians crossed the Yser in pursuit of the enemy, and our infantry entered Ostend in the afternoon. Further east we have reached the line of Oudneburg, Zedelghem and Ruddervoorde. Belgian cavalry, hustling the enemy rearguards, have reached the outskirts of Bruges. In the centre the French advanced considerably beyond Zwevezeele and Ritthem. and carried Wynahene and reached the outskirts of Tliielt. THE ALLIES' PROGRESS. HASTENS THE ENEMY'S RETREAT GENERAL BIRDWOOD ENTERS LILLE. (Australian and N.Z. and Beuter.) Received October 19, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, October 18. Sir Douglas Haig reports that, threatened by continued Allied progress southward of the Sensee and northward of the Lys, the enemy is hastening his retreat from the DouaiLille salient. We entered Douai, having broken the enemy's resistance on the line of the Haute Deule Canal. The troops of the oth Army, under General Birdwood, having pressed back the enemy's rearguard, great activity, which has been determined for many we«ks, to-dav enciircled and captured Lille.
