PRICES FOR PRODUCE

NEGOTIATIONS IN PROGRESS. Rv Telegraph—Press Association. \YELUNGTOX, Friday. A member c>l the Thames Farmers' Union stated recently at Morrinsville that the Prime Minister, while in England. had ottered tin* .New Zealand output of dairy produce to the Imperial Government at Hid per lb for cheese and 172s per cwt. tor butter. The Prime Minister states, that he had made no efier of the kind during his \isit to England, or at any other time. On the contrary, he had refused to consider prices e.ntil the shipping position was more clearlv defined than it had been in recent months. The matter was at present in the hands of the High Cniumissioner and he would place the new arrangement before the representatives oi the dairy industry as soon as the negotiations had reached a sufficiently advanced stage. That would be in the near futurc. There is good ground for believing thai the price to be i>;iid lor butter will be in the neighbourhood of IKi)s per cwt. without a share of any profit made by the Imperial Government on distribution in the United Kngdom. This arrangement would be in line with the bargain alreadv made lor the Australian surplus of butter.
