THE LOSS OF THE LEINSTER
PROMINENT IRISHMEN DROWNED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, October 12. Among those drowned in the sinking of the Leinster were Canon Downing, a leading Dublin catholic, and Mr McCarron, ex-president of the Irish Trade Union Congress. INDIGNATION IN IRELAND. LONDON, October 13. The Freemans Journal says that Prussian militarism is as ruthless in defeat as in victory. The Irish Independent hopes that retribution will be exacted. The Irish Times trusts that recruiting in Ireland will be stimulated.
