For the purpose of this Ry-law, the following words shall have the meanings assigned to them unless inconsistent with the context:— "The Company" means the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company, Limited. "Abattoir" means and includes the following portions of the Company's slaughterhouses, yards, and premises on Section lt)T> of the Parish of Horotiu; that is to say: (a) The sheep and cattle yards; (b) the mutton slaughterhouse; (c) the beef slaughterhouse; (d) a reception paddock for stock not less than live acres in area; (e) all passages, alleyways, and appurtenances of the foregoing, or any of them. "Abattoir Inspector - ' means an Inspector appointed under the "Slaughtering and Inspection Act, 1908." 2. The Company shall be entitled to make the following charges or fees, namely:— The Company will receive stock and kill and dress the carcases of the same for local consumption at the abattoir for any butcher carrying on business at Hamilton, upon the terms and subject to the conditions and regulations hereinafter contained. All stock intended to be slaughtered on the day of delivery must be delivered by the butcher into the pens at the abattoir provided for that purpose.

5. All stork not intended to be slaughtered on the day of delivery must be delivered by the butcher into the reception paddock at the abattoir provided for that purpose. The Company do not undertake to provide gracing or food for any stock, but water for stock will be provided in the reception paddock. No charge will be made for the use of the reception paddock. G. Any butcher delivering stock at the abattoir must at once obtain a proper receipt for the same from the Company. Such receipt must be on one of the printed forms provided by the Company, and must be signed by the Company's stockman or other person appointed by the Company for lhat purpose and counter-signed by the person delivering the stock. The Company will not be responsible for any stock delivered at the abattoir unless and until a receipt for the same has been signed and given as aforesaid. 7. The Company will allot to ?ac ; i butcher delivering stock to the abattoir for slaughter a distinguishing number, which shall be the branding number* of all cattle, calves and pigs and of all kinds owned by such butoher. The Company will also allot to each butcheiv delivering sheep or lambs for slaughter at the abattoir a distinguishing, raddle mark to be made by inarming each sheep or lamb with raddle in the prescribed colour and manner. 8. All cattle, calves and- pigs delivered at the abattoir for slaughter must be branded with the owner's branding number in a plain and legible manner, and all sheep and lambs delivered at the abattoir for slaughter must be branded with the owner's distinguishing raddle mark before the Company accepts delivery of the same. Any stock intended for slaughter may be branded in the yards of the abattoir at the time of delivery. 9. All meat of stock slaughtered at the abattoir under these regulations will be branded by the Company with the distinguishing brand number of the butcher owning the same. 10. Stock will he slaughtered at the abattoir by the Company for butchers for local consumption on not less than three days in each week; such days to be from time to time agreed upon between the Council and the Company. When stock are being slaughtered for export at the Company's Works at Horotiu the Company will slaughter stock for local consumption on all days except Sundays. On days when stock are being slaughtered for export all stock for local consumption will be slaughtered each morning before slaughtering stock for export. 11. On all days when cattle are being slaughtered for export all beef for local consumption will be placed in the chilling chamber as soon as dressed, and no charge will be made for such use of the chilling chamber for the first 24 hours. After beef has remained in the chilling chamber 24 hours, a charge of 2s Gd per day or part of a day will be made for each carcase of beef remaining in the chilling chamber. Mutton, lamb, and pork will not be placed in the chilling chamber, but will be subject to atmospheric cooling only. 12. The meat of stock slaughtered at the abattoir for local consumption will, if desired, be stored by the Company in their freezing chamber adjoining the abattoir, subject to the payment of the following charges:— Beef, 9d per quarter per week or part of a week. Mutton, 4d per head per week or part of a week. Lamb, 3d per head per week or part of a week. Pigs, Is Gd per head per week or part of a week.
