GORSE AT FRANKTON.

(To the Editor.) Sir, — Permit me space to draw the attention of the powers that be to a long-felt grievance—the gorse nuisance in Frankton. Year after year various property owners are permitted to grow gorse on their respective sections to a height in some cases of six or seven feet, while others are threatened with prosecution if they fail to cut same within a specilled period. Now, sir, it is not favouritism that I wish to draw attention to, but the serious menace of fire which may happen to house property during the coming summer months, through the gorse being accidentally or otherwise ignited. In the past the late Frankton Horough Council must have spent pounds of the ratepayers' money in remuneration, to their lire brigade for services rendered in extinguishing gorse tires.
