SOLDIERS' CLUB
SUCCESSFUL CONCERT
A , very successful concert was held Wednesday evening under the auspices oi tlie Returned Soldiers' Association, and organised by Mr J. H. Gittos. The following programme was submitted to a large and appreciative audience: Overture Piano "Three Twins" Mr J. H. Gittos; song "God Send you back to Me," Miss Gibson; recitation Mr De Silva; banjo solo Mr A. Martin (encored); song Miss Furze; song "There's a Lr.H." Mr G. Smith; song "I stopped, I looked, I listened," Mr M. Lewis (encored); song "Silver Ring'' Miss Furze; recitation (by request) "Alphonse," Miss Milne (encored); song "For the Green," Mr Lassell (encored) ; humorous sketch Mr M. Lewis (encored); "God Save the King." Accompaniments were played by miss Hevwood and Mr Gittos, whiist the refreshment arrangements were in the capabje hands of Mrs Bennett. Major Rastrick acted as chairman. The Club was fortunate in securing Mr M. Lewis (Auckland's leading comedian), who proved to be a host in himself; his various songs and sketches evoking roars of laughter.
At the conclusion of the concert, on the call of the chairman, hearty applause was given to all who had assisted in making the evening's function such a success.
