TE KOWHAI. Farmers' Club. A meeting of the Farmers' Club was held on Wednesday evening, Mr G. Thomas presiding. This will be the last meeting held in the school, as the new club-room is about completed and will be available for future meetings. A letter was received from the Whatawhata branch asking the opinion of the club as to the advisability of merging the road board into the County Council.—The matter was fully discussed, strong opinions being voiced on both sides of the case, one member facetiously remarking that judging by the state of the roads a proposal to merge the County Council into the road board would be more in order. Finally the Club decided that the present sys-
tem of local government was the moi sat is fact or v.
It was decided to celebrate the openng of (he new club-room with a smoke oncert on June 1, and all details were rranged forthwith.
