£14,000 IN TWO MONTHS.

SYDNEY, May 4
Arthur Leggo, a Government SavingsBank teller, has been committed for trial on a charge of stealing £14,000, the property of the bank. The accused s written statement disclosed that the money had been lost during a period of two months in betting, mostly during the last Randwick meeting. He started with £4OOO on the first day, and on the last day, in a final effort to recover his losses, he ventured £7OOO, backing his fancies in big sums. He put £2500 on one horse. He lost everything excepting £SOO, which he handed to the Commissioners when he made a clean breast regarding his defalcations.
