RESUMPTION OF WORK REPORTED. EXCEPT IX METAL TRADES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.j Received April 19, 8.50 a.m. AMSTERDAM, April 18. It is officially stated that work has been resumed in Berlin except in the metal industries, but the non-arrival of Berlin newspapers is arousing suspicion. The Koelnische Volkszeitung states that the reduction of the bread ration has made a more painful impression than any other war measure. The Vorwaerts states that the strike emphasises the anxiety concerning food. It demands the realisation of the Kaiser's promised reforms and indicates a longing for peace.
