The object or purport of the said tjy-law is as follows: To generally consolidate and amend the By-laws relating to Motors, Motor Cabs, and Motor Stage Carriages. To provide for the lighting and Identifying of Motors. To provide for the issue of certificates of ability to ctyive a motor. To provide for the licensing of Motor Cabs, Motor Stage Carriages, and ' Motor Vans, and fixing the fees to be paid for licenses. To provide that on Motor Cab stands the Cabs shall face in the correct direction. To provide for Motor Cabs exhibiting a flag while on a stand. To fix the fees to be paid for the hire of Motor Cabs. To provide for the laying of temporary crossings when building material is being carted across footways. To fix penalties for the breach of the By-law.
