THE CRISIS IN GREECE
SITUATION BECOMING DESPERATE. BRITAIN TO CAST THE DIE. GREEK EFFORTS TO SECURE ALLIES' CONFIDENCE. (United Press Association). Received September 22, 9 a.m. LONDON, September 21. Mr Jeffries has telegraphed from Alliens that the situation is more serious than ever, and is drifting to a final crisis. It is unlikely that France will recognise the now Cabinet, and it is understood the Russian Minister has received instructions that Russia is not interested in the Greek Kingdom. The British attitude is eagerly awaited in Government circles, because they reallise that Britain will cast the die. Meanwhile the Cabinet is desperately attempting to win the Allies' confidence. kTngs warning to recruits. "YOU ARE MINE ONLY." NO CHANGEAT SALONIKA. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received September 22, 11.25 a.m. ATHENS, September 21. The swearing-in of the 1915 recruits, to garrison ithe barracks, was held in the presence of the Queen, War Minister, and all the officers of the garrison. The King addressed the recruits: "You must show a-blind devotion to your superiors and your King. -You are to obey my orders—you are my soldiers, and mine only. _ Beware of the teachings of baseexploiters of patriotism who will try to hand you .to ruin." Received September 22, 11.25 a.m ATHENS, September 21. A prolonged Cabinet Council agreed to shed political pretensions and iecome purely administrative. (Reuter's telegrams.) LONDON, September £2. The British official reports states that there is no change at Salonika.
