THE LOST CRUISER
HURLED ON THE ROCKS. WRECK OF THE MEMPHIS. 100 CASUALTIES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received August 31, 10.35 p.m. NEW YORK, August 31. Details of the wreck of the cruiser Memphis show that she struck a wave twenty feet high, and was hurled on the rocks. Although it is believed that she is a total loss the Navy Department will attempt salvage. The casualties num. ber 100.
