The .sixth annual meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club held last evening, indicated that the club had passed through a very successful period, from racing and financial standpoints, during the past season, and it is now a very firm institution in the trotting circles of the Dominion. .The president (Mr E. Annual Report.

The annual report pointed out that the actual profits for the year, amounting to £lB9, v.-ere about £IOO short of that of the previous year, but it had to be borne in mind that the previous year the club received donations from Auckland dubs equalling almost the amount of the profits, viz., £250. This voar the club had no income from such a source, while on the other hand, expenditure had increased in the way of stakes, rent of course, secretary's salary, and an amount of £SO, which was donated to the Patriotic Fund. Tt was pointed out that the sum of £l3, appearing in the balance sheet under the heading of debtors for 1915. was mainly uneollectable. It was chiefly for nominations and stakes, and the committee recommended the writing off of si it'll amounts as were deemed worthless. The club had excellent acceptances for its meeting in May last, the average being 17 per race and exceptionally good fields faced the starter on each occasion, the final scratehings averaging only three a. race. The attendance was remarkably good, the tntalisator returns being well over £7,000.

The Balance Sheet. The balance shows receipts for the year at. £1,512 ss. made up as follows: Members' fees, £46; nominations. £187: acceptances, £l5B 10s: totalisator, £BO7 14s fid; gates, £149 lis fid: privileges, £42 10s; cards, £52 6s: N.Z. Railways, £63 12s 9d: fines. £5. Added to tliis are members' fees (1915 V £8 10s; nominations and acceptances, £4 10s ; privileges, £25; and balance at the bank at 31/7/15. £243 12s 4d. making a total of £1793 17s 4d. The statement of expenditure includes: Stakes, £600: Government tax. £353 13s; rent, £SO; printing and advertising, £47 lis; sundries, £29 12s sd: secretary, £75; handicapper-star'ter. £2l; wages and course officials £42 8s fid: N.Z. Trotting Association, £lO 16s fid: N.Z. Railways, £63 12s 9d; stamps and petty cash, £l4 2s 7d; Bank of N.Z., £1 : donations, £so—total: £1358 16s 9d: balance at Savings Bank £200: Bank of N.Z.. £235 0s 7d. The revenue account shows receipts, as per cash statement, £1512 ss; outstanding members' fees, nominations and acceptances. £36 ss; payments. £1358 16s 9d and balance (profit), £lB9 13s 3d. The club's liabilities are nil, while the assets comprise cash totalling £435 0s 7(1. debtors (1915) £l3 15s, and 1916 £36 ss, making a grand total of £485 0s 7d. ,

The president congratulated the members on the sound position to which the club had worked itself, as only a few chort years ago they were in something like straitened circumstances, as far as finances were concerned. The various taxes had amounted to £360. while the club had also subscribed £SO from its profits towards the Patriotic Funds.

During his visit to Wellington, on which occasion he was successful in arranging the date of January 13 for the forthcoming meeting of the club, the serre + "ry had the opportunity of meeting the representatives of troting clubs from virions parts of New Zealand, and the advantage to interchange views would be of benefit to the cluh and trotting generally.
