PUBLIC WORKS
By Telegraph.—Press Association WELLINGTON, Saturday
In order to consult with local bodies all over New Zealand, the Minister for Public Works, Hon. W. Fraser, is going to make a thour of the whole Dominion. This tour will occupy about two months—one month in each island. Mr Fraser has not yet definitely decided his itinerary, but he is going first round the North Island. No new money was provided on the Public Works Estimates this year, and the vdfes made by Parliament were simply for moneys already promised hut not yet expended. The Minister promised local bodies that although moneys were voted for certain specific works, he would consult with them as to whether they desired to have the money spent on those works or on others they might name. It i|s conceivable that in the meantime other works have become more urgent, and, if so, local bodies are to have the opportunity of using money on works they consider most urgent.
