RUGBY FOOTBALL.

HUNTLY v. NO. I. The football match, Huntly v. Hamilton No. 1., was played at Huntly on Saturday under Rugby rules. The weather was dry and cold, and the ground hard, while tiie attendance of spectators was fair. The teams being evenly matched a keen and willing game was witnessed. The scores were Hurntly 12, Hamilton 11. For the victors tries were obtained by Farrelly, Mann, and Ellis, that of the first-named being converted by Qualtrough—the only try converted during the match. For the local team Farrell, Manderson, and Geo. Paki got behind the lines, while Kari Martin kicked a goal from a mark. Mr W. Hugihes officiated as referee.

SCHOOL MATCH. The return match Huntly school v. Raiigdrii'i school was played at Huntly on Saturday, the local toys winning by 15 points to nil. Teaa an r ! Wherowhero Mahuta for the winners scored four tries and one try respectively. SCHOOL FOOTBALL. HAMILTON EAST WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. The committee of the Waikato Schools Rugby Union met on Saturday last the president, Mr T. Hinton, presiding. It was decided to close the season's competition and Hamilton East were declared winners of the championship. The secretary was instructed to order caps through Mr J. Varney, and it was decided to arrange for a presentation concert on Friday, .October 13th, at St. Andrew's Hall, Hamilton East. A statement of accounts showed a credit of £1 Is. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the South Auckland Rugby Union for a donation of £3 10s towards travelling expenses, in, addition to a football.
