A Negro Lynched.
BURNT AT THE STAKE. OKLAHOMA (U.S.A.), Aug. 28. Mrs Minnie Spraggin, when dying, identified the negro who had assaulted her and set fire to her house. Ov,?r 3000 people witnessed the lynching of the murdarer, who met with swift retribution. Tne mob locked up the police court officials, and, while the women and children looked en, the men tied the • negro to a stake in the main street and poured petroleum over brushwood which, they had stacked around klm. More oil was then poured over the man himself and a torch was applied to the pyre. Immediately hk-ih flames hid the screaming negro from view. His body was turned to cinders. The victim was apprehended by three other blacks, who joined in the search and found him hiding under a car.
