BLOWN TO ATOMS.
TWO MEN KILLED
SHOCKING ACCIDENT AT BkLLER
(Per Press Association)
WESTPORT, Friday
A shocking accident occurred yesterday on the railway construction works in the Buller George whereby Timothy Corny (contractor) ana Thomas Lowe (employee) lost their lives. They were connecting a slow fuse to a rapid fuse and apparently the gelignite in one of the holes went off, some thirty tons of stone being dislodged. A search for the bodies failed to reveal any trace other than fragments on rocks and trees on the river' bank.
An eye witness stated that he saw a coated tody, believed to be that of Corby, fly through the air and descend into the river.
Corby, who leaves a widow and six of a family was a member of the County Council, Harbor Board and Hospital Board and other public bodies. Lowe was a single man.
