New Freezing Works.

WHANGAREI ENTERPRISE.

BENEFIT TO THE NORTH

What is considered one of the finest sites for a freezing works in the Island is that upon which the Whangarei Company is erecting its new buildings at Marsden Point, above Whangarei. The w o rk s are situated within fifty feet of deep water, wlverp. the largest seagoing vessels can shelter ar.d load. Th"works are nearing completion and will be. capable of handling 60' head of cattle weekly, or their equivalent in sheep, A canning plant is also being installed in connection with the works. The company is promised good support from the northern districts, and hopes to sweep the coast as far as Opotiki with scows, and to draw cattle, sheep and lambs from the Thames. These are the only works north of Auckland, and should prove something l of a boon to farmers with surplus stock, and breeders of fats for sale, for the company will be able to reoeive animals in a fit condition for freezing from the places mentioned, whereas if taken by roiad to Auckland, the journey would reduce them so much as to render them unfit for the process.
