Canterbury, 4|d • North Island, 3£d ; R ive r Plate, 3*d. Lamb.-Ths market is quiet, but holders are firm. Supplies will be moderate. Canterbury, s±d ; other <i ) D Canterbury, 54d ; River Plate, *2-I'. River Plate shipments increas--6.* ICO per cent last year. Beef.—The market is quiet, but firm. Aew Zealand hindquarters, 3|d ■ forequarters, 2|d.
Butter— The market' is very firm. Stocks at present an store are reported small, and the demand has teen st-imula-ted. Australian, 1225;. Danish '33s ; Siberian, HUs.
Cheese.—The market is very firm, and shows signs of strength. A giood demand is expected. The s.s. Ton-gariro-'s shipment arrived in good condition. New Zealand, 6i9s ; Canadian, 695.
Hemp.—The market is very quiet, but prices have advanced since previous cable nominally ss. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales.
Wool.—The market is a shade weaker for merino, and quiet, with- no alteration in prices, for crossbreds. Quotations are as follow :—36's low crossbred, Is Ijd ; 40's low crossbreds, Is lf-d ; 44's medium crossbreds, Is 2jd<; 50''s half-breds, Is 6d ; 50's q'uarter-breds, Is !)d ; 60's merinos, Is Ifd.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report OHAUPO. At Ohaupo on Monday, 11th inst., we- yarded 480 head of cattle, all classes being well represented. There was good oofmpedition throughout and all sold with the exception of two pens of yearlings. Prices : Dairy heifers, close to profit, £6 17s €d to £$ ss, do., more backward, £5 10s to £6 ss, dairy cows £6 to £7 15s, aged or backward do., £4 to £4 12s 6d, 15 months old steers £3 16s to £4, yearling steers £2 15s to £3 7s, yearling heifers £2 12s to £3 Is, 18 months old heifers £3 4s to £3 12s 6d, empty cows £2 18s to £3 16s, fat and forward cows £5 2s 6d to £s< 7s. SALE AT TAUTARI. On Friday 15th inst we sold horses traps,, furniture, etc., at Tautari, on large attendance of settlers and good account of Mr C. Turner. There was a prices were realised for everything. TE AWAMUTU. On Saturday at Te Awamutu 343 head of cattle came forward r also 8 P®ns of sheep and 40 P'gs. Prices ; £"t heifers £G 15s, 18 months old empty heifers £3 10s to £5 ss, yearling heifers £2 12s to £2 16s, yearling steers £2 ,18s to £3 6s, mixed yearlings £2 6s to £3, small do £1 14s to £1 IDs, empty cows £3 to- £3 l<s 6d, springing heifers £7 10s to £lO ss, others more backward £5 10s *o £6 15s, dairy cows £7 to £lO, forward woolly hoggets .'l4s to 16s, stior© do 12s 2d. ewes and lambs 15s, store P'gs £1 ss, slips and weaners 7s 6d to 12s lid.
