ACCIDENT AT MERCER. KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAIN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MERCER, This day. A man named William Burns, ag>ed 35, a resident of Mercer, had a narrow escape from death last night. He was crossing ths line at Mercer, when the Main Trunk express from Auckland, which was standing in the station, suddenly commenced to move out, and Burns was caught Iby a projection on the engine, and thrown down. He received a nasty scalp wound and an injury to his fciack.
