A BLUE BOOK
LONDON, January H. A blue book on the New Hebrides has been issued.
The Morning Post says it did not affect any great Imperial or Australasian interest. The Australasian Governments were aware of the trend of Bri'ish policy uodei the Anglo-French agreement", hence it was idle to propose annexation and futile to lament the arrangements of 1886. Opinions are quoted showing the recognition of this among sections of the Australians. The considerations of the Empire made it a necessity to deal in a large way with the Powers who are neighbours. The Post then contrasts this with the fewness of Australasians in the New Hebrides and adds that the colonies have no just cause for grievance against the Imperial Governmeat. but might advantageously strergthsn theirrepresentation in London, I
