MYSTERIOUS THEFTS
LADY WORRIED TO DEATH. (Br Telegraph.—Press Association). ' CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 21. In the early part of last week the sum of about £2O was stolen from a lady lesiding in a boardinghouse kept by Mrs Elizabeth Everest. The money was taken from a drawer in a bedroom. The police were called in but the thief was not discovered. The lady whose money was taken, left the house for fresh lodgings. On succeeding nights other boarders were robbed, the culprit not being found. Other boarders left the house. Mrs Everest was not strong in health, and on Monday her death took plaoe, having been hastened by worry regarding the thefts. The police were unable to throw any light on the thefts.
