BREACH OF PROMISE CASE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A breach of promise case is being heard before Mr Justice Denniston in the Supreme Court, in which Susan Thompson, a widow, of Dunedin, sues John Creevy, a blacksmith, of Christchurch, for £SOO, for failing to fulfil an agreement to marry. The of the defendant were of a loving character, and were kept up for a considerable time, but then ceased altogether. The defence was that defendant heard statements adverse to the plaintiff's character, amongst others that she drank. The hearing of the case is proceeding, and is likely to be lengthy.
