DEFENCE NOT DEFIANCE. PARIS, November 20. M. Clemenceau assured the Berliner Tageblatt in an interview that personally he desired good relations with Germany, but if attacbd naturally the French would retalia'e. He added that there was no reason why good relations should not exit'. France nowhere stood in Germany's way.
