TE AWAMUTU NEWS.

Fuoji Our Own Cobubspondsnx The Methodists of Te Awamutu have gone to tne expense of having their ohurch renovated and painted iuside and out. The work was let to Messrs Matthews of To Awamutu, to whom groat oredit is due for the way it has been carried out. On Thursday night a very successful social wad held in aid of the renovatiug and punting fund. The Ohurch was welltilled by people from all parts of the immediate neighbourhood, every available ceat being occupied, while a number had to stand. Tne chair was taken by Kev. A. hlislop, Home Missionary to the church. A long and varied programme was gone through, every item of which was well received and appreciated by the audience. Jnciuied in the programme were speeches by the Kev. Mr Davidson, tne local Presbyterian minister and the Rev. VV. H. Beck, Methodist Minister at Cambridge, both of which were well received and applauded. At the conclusion of the programme the usual votes of thanks were given. Mr Holloway, also on behalf of the audience, wished the chairman, Kev A. Hislop, who that day had reached another anniversary of his birth, many happy returns of the day. This was confirmed by a hearty clap of hands by the audience. After this the choir rendered the concluding anthem, the benediction was pronounced by Kev. Mr Davidson, and then followed the refreshments, which were handed round to all present.
