The Rev, T. Porritt, representative of the New Zealand Craftsman, is in town.
Mr Stinley Primrose, who has b<"»n connected with the H iUiilt n branch of Messrs Hallenstein Bros., tor the past six years has received notice ot his transfer, on promotion, to Auckland.
The Hon. J. C rroll has bren very seriously ill in Wellington, suffering from a bad attack of pneumonia, lis has had two doctors attending him. He has now taken a turn for the better, though he is very weak, and will not be able to attend to Departmental duties for a little while.
The Hon. W. Hall-Jones was laid up dining the last days of the sedsion with an attack ot influenza, which has kept bim to his bed all last week. He was able to move about his room on Satnrday, but is not likely to resume his duties in the Departments of Public Works and Railways t r some days.
At the meeting of the Waikato Coal Miners' Sick and Accident Society held at duntly on Tuesday night, Dr. Bronte was chosen as successor to Dr. Monk, who has resigned. There were 27 applications for the position. Dr. Bronte is a colonial, and studied in Edinburgh University. In Glasgow ho practised his profession and when the Boer war broke out he accompanied a Scottish regiment to the front as surgeou-captain.
