MATAMATA NEWS.
From out Own Correspondent. The supply at No. 1 creamery is now over 2,000 gallons per day, and tests are up a little, 3.0. beiog about the average. I hear of a few settlers having some of their potatoes affeetei by the blight, but these are few and far between. The Opal Spring has been made mire oomfortable for the use of visitors, and a small charge is now made to help keep the place clean, etc. Captain Tiszird is in charge and appaars to be oarrying out great improvements. He intends to try and make a large dam which would make a good swimming bath. Mr McConnell, saddler here, ha 3 found it necessary, owing to increase in trade, to enlarge his shop, and the alteration is now being made. Mr Morgan, hairdresser, etc, is about to build another shop. Several farm 3 round the outlying districts have changed hands. Mr G. Howie, of Hinuera, who some short time ago purchased Messrs McGuire's property, has sold out to a Southern buyer.
