THE EXTRADITION LAW.
MELBOURNE, November 1. In connection with the extradition of the man McKelvey to South Africa, the police authorities there objected to being put to the expense of Rending over a second escort, and advised the Victorian police to act under the clause of the Fugitive Offenders Act providing that prisoners could be returned in any British ship without a police escort.
McKelvey was handed over to the captain of the steamer Leicestershire, who will convey him to Durban.
