WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Waikato County Council was held yesterday morning at the Council offices, Kirikiriroa. Present: Messrs Gordon (Chairman), Farrer. Eweo, Mcßae and Paterson. Loan.—The Public Trustee wrote saying that he would be prepared to lend the Council £llOO or £I2OO, payable in sums of £IOO every twelve month?, to meet the

allocation fixed by "Government Warrant'' Bt 5 per cent interest.—lt wa3 left to the » Chairman and Cr. Farrer to arrange a loan ot £12,000 on the test terms available. Auckland Barbour Board.—The PiaVo County Council wrote that they had passed a resolution to the effect that it was desirable to obtain for oountry settlers representation on the Auckland Harbour Board. It was suggested that a member should be appointed by the local authority of the Waikato and other district?. The cooperation of the Waikato Council was asked in urging this upon the attention of the Minister for Marine and obtaining the support of the local members of Parliament. —lt was unanimously agreed to support the proposal. Technicil School.—The Treasurer to the Cambridge Technical School fund wrote stating that as soon as the £25 promised by the Council was received they would be

Local Government Bill.—The New Zealand Counties Association wrote that no conference will be held this year—Received. Noxious Weeds.—The Raglan County Council wrote that they had written to the Minister of Lands drawing attention to

the unsatisfactory way in whioh the Noxious Weeds Act is being adminiitered, r and asked for the support of the Waikato Council in urging on the Minister the necessity of dealing with this important question more energetically.—Received. Government Subsidies Bill. The Council decided that it did not approve of a reduction of the subsidy, as many subdivisions were going on, and they requirad * the subsidy as much as ever. Heavy Carting on Waerangi Road— Cr. Mcßae drew attention to the intention of a flax syndicate to do heavy carting over the Waerangi road, which had been constructed and metalled at a cost of £IOOO. Some 400 tons of Mix were to be carted immediately, and he thought that the Council should take steps to prevent ■uch carting during the wet months of the year, as it would utterly destroy the surface.—The Chairman thought that notice i should be given the contractors that this was extraordinary carting. Cr. Mcßae moved under Sec. V. of the by-laws of the Council that public notice, by means of newspaper advertisements, be given that the road was unfit for such traffic and that if the carting was done they would be guilty of an offence and be held liable for damaging the roads. —This was seconded by Cr.
