Prom Our Own Correspondent The annual meeting of the ie K»u-a-Moa Co-operative Dairy Company took place at the factory on Saturday, 15th inst., when there were about a dozen shareholders present. Mr L. Wily, Managing Director, presided, and presented the report that stated the directors had to report that the |aird season opened on October 10th last and closed on April 20th, 1908, during which period 463,503 ibs of milk were purchased, producing 16,6851bs of buttertat, valued at £4,17 43 7d, showing a gross profit of jE367 2s Id. The general expenr.es were i>l6B 14> tid, and the working expenses £205 Is, showing a net gain on transactions ofweß3 9aod. For the first time sirce the Company started the season's transactions h&d resulted in a profit. The good resuits ©Dtained this season were attributed to a reduction in some of the general and working expenses and to the good price obtained for butter. The price paid for butter fat this season. was 6d per lb. and if all interes-ed would assist to increase the supply tins company would pay out quite as much as other f companies, and once on a sound basis prosperity would be assured. The directors hoped tnat more shares in this company would be taken up, and that all inie-ested would endeavour to increase the supply. The report was adopted. Messrs L. Wiley (chairman), Parkinson. Shaw, Douglas and Judd,were re-elected directors and ilr J. K. Newton, of Kawhia, was reappointed auditor. Mr A. S. Ormsby moved a vote of thanks to the chairman and directors, which was carried unanimously and the meeting closed. Alter the dairy meeting another'meeting was held for the purpose of forming a branch of the Kawhia Harbour Railway League. Mr L. Wiley was voted to the chair and Mr J. A. Ormsby was appointed secretary. Mr Pettit, who is secretary of the Kawhia branch was present and explained to the meeting the lines upon which they were working, and said he was glad to see the Te Kau-a-Moa people moving in the matter. All present joined the league, and it was decided to meat again at some iature date to discuss the matter more fully. Mr Dan Coe, formerly of Te Rau-a-moa, who has been residing in Kawhia for the past three years, is returning to take up his residence here again next month. Mr Le Pron, boarding house proprietor, is getting a new long wanted house erected. Two or three other houses will be in course oi erectio i soon. The Government sheep put here for eradicating ragworth are looking weil, and there appears to be a good percentage or lambs. Mr Thos. Allcock, who has recently been married, returneJ home on Friday to take up his duties as manager of the Diiry factory. The Dairy Company report the disposal «f its output at lld per lb. which must be considered very satisfactory. Fine weather has prevailed here for the last three and the roads are drying up. Feed is alio getting plentiful and stock beginning to look well. Mr Curtis, Post Obica inspector, passed through on Fi day and inspected the locvl Pp3t office. The Eev. Mr Mitchell, from Kawhia held service at the scloo! house on Sunday when there was a good congregation present.
