PERSONAL.

Mr W. C. Moon, of the Tourist Department, will arrive in Hamilton by to-day's express, and will leave tor Christohurch, via the Wanganui river, to-morrow. Miss Rochfort (Nelson, and of the Camhridge Sanatorium, Auckland) has been visiting various well known sanatoria in England lately, including that at Maltings Farm, Naglauds, near Bires, in Suffjlfc ; Frimley, at Farnborough; Orookesbury, at Farnhamj Ridgwiek and Ockley, and others. The institution known as Orookesbury is under Dr. Walker, a noted authority on the bacteriology of phthisis. Some of the chief ones she visited in company of Dr. Valintine and Dr. Roberts, of New Zealand. We much regret to announce the death of Mrs Mairs, wife ot the Rev. P. J. Mairs, Primitive Methediet minister in Hamilton, yesterday at noon, at the comparatively early age of 43. She was a native ot Lancashire. For years she had suffered from ill health, and the loss of her daughter only a month ago was a severe shock to her, from which she never recovered. Notwithstanding that it was the intention of the Primitive Methodist connection to open their new church here this week, one of her last expressed wishes was that they should not allow her imminent death to interfere with the arrangements. In the Wesleyan Church last night the iiev. A. J. Reed, of Roturua, voiced the feelings of all present, when he asked the congregatiou to rise in silenoe as a mark of heartfelt symp»thy to Mr Mairs and his family in their sorrow.
