From Olr Own Correspondent. Od Sunday last, the Cambridge West [ Methodist Sunday school celebrated its I twenty-third anniversary, appropriate discourses were delivered by the Rev. W. H. Beck and Mr Venables. The Church on both occasions was densely packed. The anniversary was continued again on Tuesday evening by a soiree and entertainment, which was well attended, and of a m >st enjoyable character. The following programme was well rendered Phonograph selection, by Mr J. Jarrett; address, Rev. Beck; song, Miss E. Jarrett; recitation, Mr F. Reynolds; song, Mr Venables ; song, Mr OibVis : phon* graph selection ; song, by the children ; song, Mr V^nable 3 , and other items by the children. The annual prizes, consisting of books, were presented to the BChours during the evening. Messrs W. N. Attwood and O. completed their contract i f clearing the cemetery grounds on Monday. Messrs Jarrett Bros, are busily engaged in the Fukeriwu district with their threshing machinery, where splendid yields have been realised, particularly those of R. F.sher, W. Wallace and J. Anderson. There is an epidemic of coughs prevalent in the district just now, and in some cases the complaint is very severe. I am pleased to report that our local butcher, Mr F. Mack, who rt:3ntly sustained an injury of a very serious nature to his instep by colliding with a knife, is making good progress and will, in the course of a few days, be able to resu:ue work.
