FATAL ACCIDENT AT THAMES.
A MINER KILLED,
(Br Telegraph.—Press Association). THAMES, Last Night. A fatality occurred in the Waiotahi battery to-day, when a man named Tasman Schofield, who had been employed by the company for some years, both in the battery and at the tailings plant, received injuries which resulted in his death a few hours later at the local hospital. Deceased was engaged at the tailings plant, when, by some means unexplained, he became caught in the belting and was whirled round. He is said to have made three revolutions of the wheel. He was picked up in an unconscious state aud taken to the hospital, but died an hour and a-half later. His right arm was fearfully lacerated, and he received internal injuries. Deceased was a married man with several children.
