YESTERDAY'S SERVICES.

The mission services were very well attended throughout the day. The ]iishop of the diocese was the celebrant at the 8 o'clock celebration of Holy Communion, and at 11 His Lordship preached to a large congregation on the subject of " Natural Generation and Spiritual Regeneration," the parish clergy officiating at the services.

The Hospital service was taken by the Bishop, the doctor and his wife and the nurses being present. The Bishop's address was based upon "thohealiQg of the leper," and lessons of encouragement were drawn from the miracle. The Rev. Harold Favell conducted the service t'or children at 3 o'clock, and at 4 o'clock the Bishop gave a very powerfull address to a congregation of men, who were kept in rapt attention throughout. The congregation assembling for the evening service at 7, which by 6.30 was quite considerable, entered heartily into the practicing of hymns, and by 7 p.ui. there was no more room in the church. The Bishop again occupied the pulpit, and before commencing his sermon, urged upon those able to attend during the week to select one or other series of services, and to attend the series chosen throughout the week, as the addresses would tike the form of consecutive instructions, The address was upon the tixt Job XX V r , 25-1, " How can a man be justitied before God't and how can a man be clean who is born of a woman ? " After a closely argued exposition of the universality of the question, a hymn was sung, and the preacher then gave the answer to the question as supplied by the Christian revelation.

The addresses at each evening's service throughout the week would, he said, be a following up of the same teaching. It was explained that a practice of hymns would begin as soon beforeß as a sutlicieat number assembled.

The Rev. H. R. Jecks was the celebrant at Hcly Communion this morning, and morning prayer was said immediately after. This will be the rule for each day of the week, the celebrants being the missioners in turn, assisted by the parish clorgy. The times of services for to-morrow are announced in another column.
