HAMILTON ROWING CLUB.
The scratch races arranged by the Hamilton Rowing Club yesterday attracted a large crowd of spectators to the Lake reserve, the ladies especially taking a keen interest iu the proceedings. Mr M. G. Farrer, president, was judge and Mr Fay acted as starter. Afternoon te i was kindly provided by Mrs T. Slade, members showing their appreciation of her thoughtfulness by giving her three hearty cheers. The races resulted as follows: Trial fours.—lst heat : A. Holloway (stroke) N. C. Matthew, G. Parr and H. Howden (Munro cox) v. F. Swarbrick (stroke) J. Murray, C. MacDiarmid and M. Grace (Cavaye cox). Holloway's crew won comfortably by five lengths. 2nd heat: C. Holloway (stroke) A. Elliott, Hawkin and M. Grace (Manning cox) v. J. Hewson (stroke) A. Primrose, C. Horsnell and C. M. Innes (Munro cox). Holloway's crew made no race of this h&ft In the final the brothers Holloway provided' a well fought contest, C. Holloway winning by -] length. ' 0 Ladies Pair Oar. Misses L. Thompson md Munro v. Misses Webber and Bongard. rhis was by far the best race of the "day, Miss Thompson stroking home a winner ay the narrow margin of about 2 feet.
