♦ (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, Last Night. Mr William Rose has written oo the Land Purchase Commissioner accepting the latter's conditions for the purchase of his lessee's interest in a portion of the Tamaki block, comprising 3509 acres of splendid dairying land close to L'annevirke, NAPIER, Last Night. At the Supreme Court this morning the following prisoners were dealt with : William Brock, theft of money from the steamer Hawera, four months ; John Baker and Frank Anderson, theft from the person, two years ; Te Otene Tipu, housebreaking and theft, admitted to probation. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In connection with the escape of two prisoners from the Terrace gaol, one wirier has been fined for not reporting the disappearance of prison tools used by the escapees, and the services of an acting warder have been dispensed with. DUNEDIN, Last Night.. Mr Christie, the Mayor-elect of Dunedin, was installed in the forenoon and received the congratulations of the City Council. Mr Christie's father, who had been ailing for some time past, died shortly before the installation.
