♦ A HEAVY PENALTY INFLICTED (Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNE DIN, This Day. At the Supreme Court, Joseph Brown and his wife, Julia Brown, were found guilty of the false registration of the birth of a child, and were each sentenced to the maximum penalty of two years' imprisonment. The evidence showed that the accused had obtained the child frum its mother, and registered it in their own name the motive being to obtain money from a'man who was charged by Mrs Brown with bein» the father. ° It was shown that the Browns had blackmailed this person to the extent of £l5O.
