The Englishmen in their second innings only made 130. Brings, 8; Stoddarfc, 8; Brookwell, 1; Peel, 15; Brown, 2 j Gray, 28.; Locktyood,;l4; Humphrey*,4;ford, 16; Richardson, not out, 2; extras, 2, Jones took one wicket for 42; Giffen, six for 49; Jams, three for 38. South Australia inthe second innings have lost thre'o wickets for 164; Lyons, 32; Reedman, not out, 76; G. Giffen, not out, 42; A; Jam's, 9; VV. Giffen, 5. They only requiro 81 more to win. November 14. The South Australians achieved a great performance to-day in beating Stoddart's eleven by six wickets, after having to face a first innings of 477. Only one more wicket fell in making the required runs, Reedman being disposed of for 83. G. Giffen was not out 58, and Darling not out 37, extras 4. Total, 226 for four wickets.
The fielding of the local team was brilliant. George Giffen took three wickets in seven overs for three, runs, while Jams at the wickets did not allow a single extra.
A cricket match has been arranged to bs played at Te Awamutu on Saturday uext on the Club's ground between a team of ladies and gentlemen, the latter being handicapped by having to use their left hands in bowling and fielding and sticks instead of bats. As this will be the first ladies' match played at Te Awanmtu considerable interest i 3 being taken in it and should the afternoon be fine a large gathering is expected. The names of both teams will appear in Saturday's paper.
