Ascetic ,is the sire of Royal Meath, winner of the Grand Prix Steeplechase at Paris; he is also'the'sire of Cloister, winner of the Liverpool Grand National Steeplechase, 1893. Paddy's Land's dam May Morn, by Old Victor (winner of the Royal Hunt Cup at. Ascot, and got by Vindex, by Touchstone) ; granddam Lady ; Norah,: by Mount Zipo (by Mountain Deer, by Touchstone, out of Devotion, by Harkaway); g granddam Polly, by Arthur (by' Sir Hercules,' out of Angelica, by Sir Harry Diinsdale); gg granddam by Whalebone. Paddy's Land was imported direct from England to Melbourne for the present owner, arriving in June, 1892, and in the following August brought on to Auckland, where he has stood two seasons ; therefore has not been in any other part of the colony. He was exhibited at the Auckland Agricultural Show, 1892 and 1893, as a Thoroughbred, Sire for producing hunters, etc,, and carried off the first prize on both occasions.
