Alameda, - with the Colonial mails of 6th October, reached 'Frisco from Auckland on the 26th October, one day late, GISBORNE, Last' Night. A man named Wm. Brennan was found dead in his whare near Kaiaka, > A post mortem examination 'revealed signs of strychnine poisoning and a bottle with strychnine crystals was found at the side of deceased, The jury returned a verdict that deceased poisoned himself but whetherby accident or by design there was no evidence to show. GREYMOUTH, Last Night. , A very important gold reef has been discovered it Langdons, • nine miles from Greymouth. The reef, which was unearthed at a lower level than ever tested before, is three feet thick, carrying heavy gold visible throughout. A rush has set in and leases are being taken up in all directions.- . OAMARU, Last Night. Mrs Geo, Falcciner, an old lady of 67 years, committed suicide to-day. She hanged herself to the verandah of her sister-in-law's house, early in the morning. She recently returned from Wellington. A verdict of•' unsound mind " was returned. t TIMARU, Last Night. A' seven roomed house, four, miles from town, the residence of Mr D. McGuiness, well-known as a hotelkejper, was destroyed by fire at midnight. •' '' •" _ ; V
