THE MIKADO.

The comic opera "Mikado "; was repeated by the Te Awamutu Muaisal Society on Friday night to a very good house, Several minor defects, generally noticeable ;in first night, had all boen remedied' on this second performance and the piece went' splendidly. In the first scene things seemed to drag a bit until ;''Koko" came, upon, the stage, when life and brightness was at once infused, ' Everyone of the performers entered into the ! spirit of the fun, which was sustained throughout. 1 'This' feeling soon spread to ; the audience, and their hilarious burst of laughter and 'the rounds of applause which greeted the performance at every point must have been very gratifying to 1 the company, who have been to so much trouble and expensein staging the piece. l To Mr Dawson, who played the part of " Koko," must be awarded the fullest measure of praise, and with him taking a leading part in any comic opera its success is assured. There was a large contingent of Hamilton people present, and they were not stinting in their expression of admiration at the excellent acting displayed, by the whole of the company and with the excellent manner in which the staging had been managed' and the taste displayed in the dresses worn by the company. At the fall of the curtain Mrs W. Taylor presented Mr Loug, the conductor of the Society, with a beautiful boiiquetasamarkof appreciation of his untiring efforts on behalf of the society. Two groups of the performers were: also taken by Mr Potter a photographer who happened,to be present, by means; of the magnesium light. By notification in this issue it will be seen that the company intend giving a performance of this opera in Cambridge on Saturday night. We can strongly recommend our Cambridge friends; to ■ patronise the Society's plucky effort and we trust they will give them all the support they can, and we feel sure they will thoroughly enjoy the two hours' capital fun provided.
