Owing to the slackness of wrk, the Railway Commissioners have decided that the operatives in the railway workshops in Auckland, Christchurch and Dunedm sha 1 for the present only work five and a-halt days each week. , Constable McGill, who escorted Uarl Mueller from Sydney, has been suspended, pending the decision of the Defence Minister on the matter. _ The charges of murder against J? inlay and Seel are proceeding, but so far no fresh evidence has been adduced. Later. At tho Magisterial enquiry on the murder case, Campbell, a sailinakcr, on the ship, Waimatc, corrected his statement at the inquest by saying that he did not see Fmlay knocked duwn before the shooting began. He had previously denied that Finlay was knocked down at all though a number of other witnesses swore that he was. No fresh witnesses were exummea today, and at five o'clock tho case was adjourned till Wednesday.
