WAIKAIO HUNT CLUB.

The usual weekly meet of Mr H. Bnlloekhounds took at Haulapu, on Saturday last, the rendezvous being Pickering's corner, near the old .schoolhouse. There was a very goori muster of followers present, and several ladies also giaced the occasion. Glorious spring weather prevailed, and tho d.iy, albeit rather warm at times was all that could bo de.-ired. The following ladies were present: Mrs E. Cussbii on Commissioner, Miss Hume on Drelia, and Miss Main on Nelson. Among the gentleman we noticed the master (Mr H. Bullock-Webster) on Freshfield. Messrs W. M. Douglas on Pawa, It. Rathbi tue on Master, M. H. Pickering on an Ingomur, A. Bach on an Ariel, A. J. Storev on Craay Kate, E. Cussen on Slug, H. Wyatton a bay, W. Windsor on Yum Yum, S. Lawson on Peter, W. Park on Muscatelle, R. Hannon on a Cap-a-pie, P. Emersou on Jumbo, T. Hicks on a bay, C. Shaw, on Wuverly, T. H. Barwell oil a grov, J. Dalgleish on a chestnut, R. Dodd on a Ingotnar, VV. Cowley on a bay, and others. The hounds proceeded to Mr | Dyke's farm, and threw off in a paddock | belonging to that gentleman near the main road. A hare was soon found, which, however, provided only a short run, as puss crossing over into Mr Paton's, was lost in some heavy ti-tree. The party then moved across the gully on to Mr Pickering's property, where another hare was started, which provided a much better run than the former one. hut manjged to escape when she reached thn main road. A paddock belonging to Mr Douglas was then tried, and a hare was found in the gully, which gave the best run of the day. Heading for the main road, puss crossed over into Mr Dyke's paddocks, thence through Messrs Norrish's, Thomas', Paten's, Selby's and Smith's, and was ultimately lost near the corner of No. 1 road, through the hounds getting on to a fresh hare. This proved a fast and exciting run, being over a natural hunting country, with a total absence of wire fences throughout. After a short spell, the Broadmeadows estate was tried ; some good runs were had, but owing to the large number of hares, the hounds were unable to keep one going long enough to securoakill; the scont was not first-class owing to the hot day and the ground getting too dry. Several spills occurred during the afternoon, but none were of a serious nature. The hounds will meet at Cambridge on Thursday next, which will be a gala day for the Club, as W. Thornton has commissioned Host Bach, of the National Hotel, to provide a hunting breakfast at the hotel, and to which ha has invited all the members to partake, »nd a general good time is anticipated. The honnds will then proceed to Gwynnelands and ran a drag.
