The in.ister on tho rir--t day rode Bhifi Peter, iindnn the second was mounted on Freshßeld, and the field of straight goers was made up of tho following gentlemen : — Messrs Weatheril on Fisherboy, Corboy on Opawa, Park on Muscitnlle, Iliag on Roinoi), Ray on an Ariel, J. C-.rboy on The Ue.vil, Archer on a Bothwell, Hkmioii on Wairiri, C. Weal on .Justice, H. Weal on a Cap-a-pie, tho Messrs Wilkie well mounted on two bl.icks, Hewitt on a promising tliroe-year-old, Churchward on » biicK cob, Williamson on an unkind white. Tho whip was weli mounted on a chestnut cob, and several lads followed straight as a line. In addition there was the usual crowd of onlookers who thoroughly entered into the excite.mfint of the sport, many of the older ones no doubt, regretting that increasing age and weight precluded them from taking their places amongst the "merry hunt."
