THOSE " BLOOMING " CAPS.
DK\it Barracker, I rjad your lines, I, cove accused of gassing ; Dear me, you must have spent some time such slum-like terms amassing ; You must have taxed your Sikian train evolving so much matter, I wonder much fiom whence you get such a delightful " patter," Jusfc like the barracker you are, you make a deal of splashing, And attribute unto your girls what's through your own mind flashing; I think you wrong the Huntly fair, and deem it nought but slander. That they would tear those "blooming'' caps and to your temper pander. You say I, "high falutin"' did, that's rather risky singing, You live in a glass house, my friend, and stones should ne'er be slinging ; You spoke of fancy writing too, that there's no understanding. How fanciful you must have felt those "blooming " caps demanding. I'm sorry that the "fnrrin" phrase did puzzle you so sorely, I see yon " fixed" in wonderment and glaring at it dourly ; And "Oribble too " and " Waterloo," and " skitin' " band and banquet Your oultured feelings must have shocked, and made you utter—blank it ! How plaintively you plead that " if," while on " mishaps " enlarging, And Crowe, who has not eyes of hawk, you're with dim visiou charging ; 'Twas all your fault, you brought it on— I write not in derisionSuch bright maroon gleamed everywhere, that it quite spoilt his visiou. Now, had those " blooming" caps, my friend, been yours by any ruling. You would have worn them modestly — What's that you say ?—l'm fooling ? Perhaps I am, if so you say, you may perchance speak rightly ; But then, you know, I've seen you win — you wear your laurels quietly ! ! Xow don't get vexed or vengeful, pray, at what you term my squualine's ; I'd sorry be, dear Barracker, to lacerate your feelings ; Toot on your Hute. and sing your song, and squeeze your " koncertinv" i.\vill contort y->n, and w.m 1111] jy - Yours, truly, " Mr " (tI.EVN'KH.
