Wellington, Last Nieht. The Art Society was disappointed at not being able to hold the fourth exhibition in their own gallery the completion of which has been delayed by the wet weather. The pictures showed a marked advance, but drawing is a conspicuous weakness in many. The Governor in opening the exhibition said he was greatly struck with the progress made in art painting and music since lie had been in the olony. Mr Hacrgeu, by the instructions of Garvey the gaoler, was relieved from the menial duties exacted from prisoners. A deputation of pressmen intended to wait on the Minister and ask him to interfere, but they were intercepted by the action of Garvey.
TheR.M.S. Doric left Rio Do Janeiro on Friday afternoon last for Plymouth with her cargo of meat in good condition.
At Woodville, an information for alleged abortion has been laid by Dr. Devonport against Syrnes, a chemist. The case cornea on for hearing to-morrow week.
