The Ministerial origin tins morning h,is a lengthy article depl'.ring the wilful obstruction of the Opposition which is pertinently replied to uy the Press in the following terms :— The Opposition aio accused of obstruction beeinse ii week has been duvnted to debating the Land Bill, one of tho mo-t iinpoitant and revolutionary measures ever laid before the Xew Zealand legislature. What in the world is the raison (letro of an Opposition if not to criticise exhaustively a Bill of so moment'.ii* a character as this one, but really is it not a piece of barefaced effrontery for the Government to charge the Opposition with obstruction ? Who is the champion stonewaller of Australasia ? The Hon. K. .1. Seddon, tho acting-Premier. Who cornea next in order as builders of stonewalls? The leading members of the Ministerial party. Is it not on record that ihe gentleman who now leads the Government of Xew Zealand on one occasion kept business absolutely at a standstill for three solid divs by his individual efforts. Again did not the next in command. Mr Reeves a few years ago waste the lime of the House by reading page after page of a dictionary as his contribution to a stonewall. Yet these forsooth are the men who prate about obstruction.'' THE PREMIER. Tiie Premier's health is improving, and Ministers expect he will be able to resume his place in the House to-morrow. LABOUR BUREAU. Last week the Labour Bureau secured wo-k for 32 men, the majority being bush hands. The men hail from all parts nf the olony. To-day the bureau sent 23 men to Mr Donnelly's station, in Xapinr. THK ELECTORAL BILL. The Statutes Revision Committee of the Legislative Council, to which the Electoral Bill has been referred, intend recommending the insertion of a clause in the Bill allowing the electoral right to women who might not care to record their votes at the polling-booth. It is not yet known whether the Government will accept this provision, but if so, it will no doubt be embodied in the Bill. CODLIN MOTH BILL. The Secretary of the Canterbury Agricultural Association, Mr Murphy, who ia at present in Wellington, supports the Codlin Moth Bill, as he believes that a law will protect good orchards.
